Gardening Builds Faith

Gardening has given me such good practice at patience and trust in the Lord
I planted a flower garden from seed a few weeks ago
On a Tuesday
It was a breezy and very cloudy day
While my hands grew tired, I questioned… is this going to be worth it
Digging up sod is hard work
Are these tiny little seeds going to create something beautiful that I can put on my counter
As a mom, all the little things
All the dishes
All the talks about Jesus
All the times where I have to take a breathe so I don’t freak out
All those seeds
Are they going to amount to a human that feels loved, that loves the Lord, and those around them?
What will they amount to?
Will I be the mom that I want to be?
Will I provide them the life that they deserve?
In a couple of weeks, I will see the sprouts
Tiny little green seedlings will catch my breath
This is something you can only experience when planting from seed
The hard work, waiting, the hoping, and then the bloom of excitement
Like when I hear my son pray unprompted for the first time
Or when he points out "Jesus' cross” somewhere out in the world
Little leaves peaking out of the ground
A little believer learning his way
Little hints of the things that we have hoped prayed and planted seeds for
